Someone predicts that a character is going to die soon, which makes them very nervous. The prediction is always wrong.

- Taxi: Season 4, episode 1, "Jim the Psychic" (1981). Jim has a premonition that Alex is going to die on Thursday (he doesn't).
- The Golden Girls: Season 4, episode 9, "Scared Straight" (1988). Sophia has a dream where her late husband tells her she's going to die on Saturday at 9pm, so she starts getting her affairs in order. On Saturday, she discovers it was just her friend Mildred yelling through the window that she can join the bowling team that meets Saturday nights at 9pm.
- Night Court: Season 8, episode 5, "Death Takes a Halloween" (1990). Mac produces a copy of tomorrow's newspaper with an obituary for Dan saying he died that night, and Dan is terrified, but it turns out to be Mac's Halloween prank.
- Bottom: Season 1, episode 4, "Apocalypse" (1991). When Richie's aunt dies and leaves him some money, he and Eddie go to a carnival, where a fortune teller tells Richie he's going to die in three days.
- NewsRadio: Season 3, episode 5, "Halloween" (1996). A psychic auditioning for Mr. James's Halloween party predicts that Bill is going to die on March 3, 2032 at 4:20pm, and he starts acting morose because he's "terminal." He becomes so insufferable that the psychic tells him he's actually going die in 2232.
- The Simpsons: Season 11, episode 19, "Kill the Alligator and Run" (2000). Homer takes a magazine quiz that says he's going to die in three years, and he freaks out. A therapists suggest he take a vacation to Florida, so he and the family head down for a relaxing time, but they're disappointed to discover that it's spring break.
- Still Game: Season 3, episode 6, "Aff" (2004). A psychic gives readings at The Clansman, and she tells Isa she's going to die on Thursday when a silver car hits her. When Thursday comes, Isa is so terrified that when a silver car starts gunning for her, she freezes. Fortunately, Navid pushes her out of the way just in time. Then a toddler in a silver toy car knocks Isa down.
- The IT Crowd: Season 2, episode 2, "Return of the Golden Child" (2007). Moss fills out a quiz for Roy that predicts he's going to die on Thursday at 3pm, which happens to be at the same time as Denholm Reynholm's funeral. Roy is on edge all week, and during the service, as the clock strikes three, his phone rings, and thanks to Moss's souped up vibration setting, Roy thinks he's having a heart attack.
