Past Due Prom
One or more adult characters somehow end up attending a high school prom, homecoming, or other dance. Usually they either didn't get to go to their prom or didn't have a good time.

- Dharma & Greg: Season 2, episode 8, "Like, Dharma's Totally Got a Date" (1998). Donald, a high school kid from the neighborhood, takes a liking to Dharma and asks her to the homecoming dance, and despite Greg's protests, Dharma agrees. At the dance, she convinces Donald to ask a girl his own age to dance, and he hits it off with her.
- 3rd Rock from the Sun: Season 4, episode 24, "Dick's Big Giant Headache: Part 2" (1999). Circumstances transpire that lead to the whole gang, including Vicki and the Big Giant Head, attending Tommy's junior prom and making things uncomfortable for Tommy and Alissa.
- Just Shoot Me!: Season 4, episode 24, "Fast Times at Finchmont High" (2000). Finch goes undercover at a high school to gather intel for Maya's article about today's high school kids, and his rebellious attitude captures the attention of the head cheerleader, Krissy, who asks him to the prom. Finch is excited because he didn't get to go to his prom, but when Krissy tells him she love him, he confesses that he's actually 32 years old and gets his ass kicked by some of her burly friends.
- It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season 1, episode 3, "Underage Drinking: A National Concern" (2005). A bunch of high school students start coming into the bar, and three of them get flirty with Charlie, Dennis, and Sweet Dee, which leads to all three of them getting asked to the prom, and of course, Mac tags along.
- King of the Hill: Season 11, episode 4, "Luanne Gets Lucky" (2007). Luanne's depressed because all of her young clients are getting their hair done for the prom, and she had to miss hers because she had to testify against her mother in court. To make matters worse, Lucky is ignoring her because he wants to dig up a stump in the woods. When one of Luanne's clients tells her he's not going to the prom because he doesn't have a date, she convinces him to take her.
- Party Down: Season 2, episode 5, "Once Upon a Time 'Proms Away' Prom-otional Event" (2023). Lydia is concerned that by encouraging Escapade to be an actor as child, she ruined her life by depriving her of her childhood, so she throws a mock prom so Escapade can enjoy the prom she never got to go to.
