A character is going to a costume party and has to find a costume at the last minute, and the only costume left in the store is something ridiculous.

• The Bob Newhart Show: Season 6, episode 4, "Who Was That Masked Man?" (1977). Bob and Emily are going to a charity costume party, and they're supposed to dress as the people they most admire. Bob wants to go as Abraham Lincoln, but the only costume they have left in the store is Zorro.
• Night Court: Season 3, episode 5, "Halloween Too" (1985). Dan wasn't planning to wear a costume to Harry's Halloween party, but Harry orders him to, so he calls around to every costume store in the city, and he can only find one left (that isn't a Smurf): Humpty Dumpty.
• Wings: Episode 6, "The Gift of Life" (1996). It's Halloween, and Joe waited until the last minute to find a costume, and all the store had left were Miss Piggy and Pinocchio, so he chose Pinocchio.
• Spin City: Season 3, episode 11, "Local Hero" (1998). When James shows up for the mayor's costume party dressed as Michael Jackson, Carter has to change his costume plans at the last minute and buy the last costume left in the store, which is a big fuzzy bunny rabbit.
