A cautionary tale about a character who's addicted to drugs, alcohol, or something else, and the gang helps them get clean.

- Good Times: Season 2, episode 13, "Sometimes There's No Bottom in the Bottle" (1974). Cousin Naomi is staying with the Evans family for Christmas, and she's been acting strange. Thelma quickly discovers that Naomi has been secretly getting drunk, and she tries to convince Naomi that she has a problem, but Naomi refuses to believe it.
- Mr. Belvedere: Season 3, episode 10, "Pills" (1986). Heather gets ahold of some prescription diet pills to lose three pounds. When Marsha finds out, she takes the pills away, then starts acting very strangely. Heather figures out that Marsha has been taking the pills, and she and Mr. Belvedere try to convince Marsha to stop.
- ALF: Season 2, episode 24, "Tequila" (1988). Kate's friend, Maura, spends the night at the Tanner house, and Alf discovers she's an alcoholic. He poses as one of her hallucinations to convince her to get help.
- ALF: Season 4, episode 6, "Hooked on a Feeling" (1989). Alf gets addicted to eating cotton, so to help him kick the habit, Willie invites a support group over and poses as Alf, pretending he's trying to quit smoking.
- The Golden Girls: Season 4, episode 20, "High Anxiety" (1989). Dorothy and Blanche discover Rose has been addicted prescription pain pills for 30 years after "an old farming injury," so they stay up all night to help her quit cold turkey, but it doesn't work, and Rose ends up checking into a rehab clinic to kick the habit.
- The Nanny: Season 3, episode 6, "Shopaholic" (1995). When Fran hears that her ex-fiancé is getting married, she starts shopping uncontrollably. She's so addicted to shopping that Mr. Sheffield makes her go to "shopaholics anonymous," and when she quits cold turkey, she goes through withdrawal symptoms.
