Maid to Order
The gang hires a maid to help out around the house. It never goes how they expect, and the maid is gone by the end of the episode.

- The Dick Van Dyke Show: Season 3, episode 11, "Turtles, Ties, and Toreadors" (1963). Rob hires a part-time maid to help Laura around the house, but she doesn't speak English, she has a broken arm, and she thinks she was hired as a full-time, live-in maid. If that's not bad enough, she's also a terrible maid.
- My Mother the Car: Episode 20, "I'd Rather Do It Myself, Mother" (1966). Things are so hectic in the Crabtree home that Dave decides to surprise Barbara by hiring a maid, but the maid soon takes control of the whole house, and nobody in the family likes having her around.
- Sanford and Son: Season 2, episode 14, "The Light Housekeeper" (1972). After Fred and Lamont get into a minor car accident, Fred is left with an injured arm and leg, so Lamont hires a maid to help out around the house while Fred is out of commission.
- The Odd Couple: Season 4, episode 11, "Maid for Each Other" (1973). Oscar's ulcer has taken a turn for the worse, so his doctor recommends he spend some time at home and hire someone to handle the cooking and cleaning for him, so Felix hires a maid who's a stern taskmaster.
- The Bob Newhart Show: Season 1, episode 21, "Emily, I'm Home - Emily?" (1973). Emily is offered a full time administrative position at her school, so she hires a maid to help out around the house since she'll be working more often. Unfortunately, the maid doesn't speak any English, and Bob doesn't speak any Spanish.
- Seinfeld: Season 9, episode 19, "The Maid" (1998). Jerry hires a maid and ends up dating her. Eventually, she starts coming over just to sleep with him and doesn't do any cleaning, but she still expects to be paid. When Jerry confronts her about it, she gets offended and dumps him/quits.
- 3rd Rock from the Sun: Season 4, episode 19, "Citizen Solomon" (1999). Now that Sally has her own apartment, Dick, Harry, and Tommy have no one to clean up after them. When Dick hears that Mary has a maid named Cathy, he secretly hires her behind Mary's back. When Sally meets Cathy, she feels like she's been replaced. This all culminates in Sally, Mary, Dick, and Harry storming Cathy's home and fighting over her, and Cathy gets fed up and quits all of them.
- Frasier: Season 10, episode 7, "Bristle While You Work" (2002). Now that Daphne has moved out, Frasier and Martin decide to hire a housekeeper. Martin insists on hiring a woman named Trish because she likes sports, but Frasier's not too sure about her. Trish ends up proving Frasier's suspicions were correct by hardly ever showing up and not doing any work when she does. Martin doesn't want Frasier to know he was wrong about Trish, so he does all the cleaning for her.
