Painting Party
A character needs to paint their apartment, but they don't want to do it alone, so they invite the gang to a "party" to get them to help.

- The Bob Newhart Show: Season 2, episode 6, "Have You Met Miss Dietz?" (1977). Emily's friend Marilyn moves into the building and starts dating Howard and Jerry at the same time, and tensions rise when she invites both of them to her apartment for a painting party. Bob stops by just for the Chinese food, but he ends up with a suit covered in paint.
- Taxi: Season 2, episode 12, "Elaine's Secret Admirer" (1979). Elaine throws a painting party to get the guys from the garage to help her re-paint her apartment after her latest relationship breaks up, which is apparently a tradition for her.
- Cheers: Season 4, episode 15, "The Triangle" (1986). Cliff tricks Norm into helping him paint his house under the guise of a "party" to which he claims he's invited all the guys, but Norm is the only one who shows up.
- It's a Living: Season 4, episode 14, "The Evictables" (1987). Ginger's landlord refuses to paint her apartment even though the paint is chipping off the walls, so she decides to invite the rest of the gang to a "painting party," where she won't be painting; she'll be making sandwiches.
- Herman's Head: Season 3, episode 5, "Over Herman's Head" (1993). Herman invites the gang over to help him paint his apartment, and he orders a bunch of pizzas for the occasion.
- Just Shoot Me!: Season 4, episode 7, "An Axe to Grind" (1999). Maya invites the gang to a painting party to re-paint her apartment, and they all say they'll show up except Elliot, who tells her that the others just plan to come up with last-minute excuses to get out of it.
