Unnecessary Makeover
A woman, whom everyone seems to think is ugly, gets a "makeover" that's supposed to suddenly make her drop-dead gorgeous, even though she was already beautiful before. Usually this involves her suddenly not needing glasses anymore.

- My Favorite Martian: Season 1, episode 31, "Miss Jekyll and Hyde" (1964). Martin uses his martian powers to surreptitiously give Mrs. Brown's brilliant and beautiful niece, Paula, a makeover that just involves putting her hair up and taking her glasses off.
- Cheers: Season 6, episode 11, "My Fair Clavin" (1987). Cliff starts dating a woman named Sally from his building, but he's reluctant to be seen with her in public because of her plain looks, so he uses some fashion magazines to give Sally a makeover (which mostly just involves taking off her glasses and putting on a dress), but Sally's not happy with Cliff's attitude toward her new look.
- Herman's Head: Season 3, episode 15, "You Say Tomato" (1994). Herman gets hung up on the fact that his new girlfriend, Lauren, doesn't look like Miss February, so he talks her into changing her look for him. She shows up at his apartment in a skimpy dress and thigh-high boots with poofy hair and piles of makeup, but Herman keeps pushing it, and she gets mad and dumps him.
- Malcolm in the Middle: Season 3, episode 10, "Lois's Makeover" (2002). Secret shoppers come to Lucky Aide and report that Lois's "hygiene is questionable" and that she's "slovenly," so her boss orders her to get a makeover from an employee in the makeup department, who piles on thick layers of eyeshadow, mascara, and rouge, but for some reason it attracts all the men at the store to her and makes Hal frisky.
