- My Favorite Martian: Season 2, episode 20, "A Martian Fiddles Around" (1965). Mrs. Brown is taking violin lessons and insists on practicing day and night, and her horrendous playing is making Martin turn transparent.
- The Bob Newhart Show: Season 5, episode 11, "Here's to You, Mrs. Robinson" (1976). Howard gets a good deal on a stand-up bass and practices day and night, playing the same note over and over, to the chagrin of Bob and Emily.
- Newhart: Season 3, episode 2, "Twenty Year Itch" (1984). A guest at the inn, who plays the trumpet, is gearing up for a big audition, so he plays his trumpet day and night to practice. Despite his constant practicing, he's a terrible trumpet player.
