• Murphy Brown: Season 2, episode 4, "TV or Not TV" (1987). The network is making a sitcom about the newsroom, and the star follows Murphy to study her for her role.
• Herman's Head: Season 3, episode 11, "An Actor Prepares" (1993). A famous actor follows Herman around and imitates him for a movie role where he plays a fact checker.
• NewsRadio: Season 3, episode 8, "Movie Star" (1996). James Kahn shadows Bill for a day to prepare for a movie role as a radio broadcaster, but he gets distracted by Matthew and decides to study him instead.
• Curb Your Enthusiasm: Season 10, episode 8, "Elizabeth, Margaret and Larry" (2020). A friend of Larry's is making a movie with a "Larry David-type writer" character played by Jon Hamm, so Jon follows Larry around to learn how to act like him.
