A character insists on practicing for when a pregnant woman goes into labor with regimented drills, often in the middle of the night.

- Too Close for Comfort: Season 2, episode 22, "Don't Shoot the Piano Movers" (1982). In preparation for the birth of their third child, Henry puts the whole family through labor drills in the middle of the night (despite the fact that they've done it twice before already).
- Perfect Strangers: Season 2, episode 1, "Hello Baby" (1986). Balki invites Gina, a pregnant friend from his citizenship class, to stay with him and Larry for a few days while her trucker husband is on the road. When Larry finds out Gina's baby is two weeks late, he insists on running drills with her and Balki all night to make sure they're prepared for the baby's birth.
- ALF: Season 3, episode 26, "Having My Baby" (1989). Alf wakes up Kate and Willie several times throughout the night for "labor drills" to prepare for Kate's baby being born, despite their emphatic assurances that they know what to do when the time comes because they already have two children.
- Office Space (US): Season 4, episode 3, "Baby Shower" (2008). Michael is weirdly obsessed with Jan's sperm donor baby, so he enlists Dwight to pretend to be Jan in labor so he can practice getting her to the hospital and helping her through the birth, but Jan comes in with her newborn daughter, to whom she gave birth without Michael's involvement.
