- What's Happening!!: Season 3, episode 3, "Basketball Brain" (1978). A used car magnate asks Raj to tutor a high school basketball star so he can give him a college scholarship.
- Mr. Belvedere: Season 3, episode 16, "The Competition" (1987). Heather meets a football player in her ballet class, and she agrees to tutor him in history so he won't get cut from the team.
- The Golden Girls: Season 6, episode 6, "Feelings" (1990). Dorothy's school pressures her to pass a star football player in her English class so he can play in a big game. At first she sticks to her principals, but she agrees to pass if he'll let her tutor him to get his grades up.
