The gang discovers that a character they thought they knew is someone completely different who is in the Witness Protection Program.

Appearances
- Barney Miller: Season 5, episode 21, "Identity" (1979). The cops arrest a thief who turns out to be in the Witness Protection Program, and sending him to jail could cost him his life, so they try to convince his victim to drop the charges.
- ALF: Season 3, episode 13, "Hide Away" (1989). Willie carpools with a clingy, chatty co-worker named Jimbo, who invites himself over and won't leave, and he confesses he's in the Witness Protection Program. Terrified that criminals are coming to kill Jimbo, Alf sets a trap in the backyard, and actually catches one.
- The Golden Girls: Season 6, episode 15, "Miles to Go" (1991). Miles tells Rose that he was in the witness protection program, and the man he was hiding from is dead, so now he can be himself again, but it turns out to be a trick, so Miles has to be relocated.
- Wings: Season 7, episode 4, "The Person Formerly Known as Lowell" (1995). Lowell witnesses a mob hit, and the murderer's lawyer makes it clear that if he testifies, he's dead, so Lowell accepts the FBI's offer to put him in the witness protection program.
- My Name is Earl: Season 1, episode 19, "Y2K" (2006). In a flashback to New Year's 2000, Harry Monroe enters the witness protection program and becomes Darnell Turner, who still loves cheese, but nobody can know.
- My Name is Earl: Season 2, episode 7, "Mailbox" (2006). Joy finds out Darnell is in the witness protection program, and his real name is Harry Monroe, and she throws him out because he'd been lying to her.
- My Name is Earl: Season 4, episodes 15-16, "Darnell Outed" (2009). Earl ruined Joy's opportunity to be on Fear Factor, so he tries to help her achieve her dream of being famous by getting her on "Estrada or Nada," but she gets eliminated and throws a fit. When Darnell runs out on stage to stop join from attacking the judges, he accidentally ruins his Witness Protection cover, so the whole family has to get new identities.
