Ugly Bridesmaid Dress
A character is asked to be a bridesmaid (or the maid of honor) in someone's wedding, and the dress they're asked to wear is outrageously ugly.

- The Mary Tyler Moore Show: Season 1, episode 22, "A Friend in Deed" (1971). Mary's old camp buddy, Twinks, is getting married, and she asks Mary to be her maid of honor and Rhoda (whom she just met) to be a bridesmaid. Twinks orders specially-made dresses from Detroit that look like they came out of Little Bo Peep's closet.
- Rhoda: Season 3, episode 8, "Rhoda Questions Her Life and Flies to Paris" (1976). Brenda comes home from a wedding in which she was a bridesmaid, and she's wearing a tacky, pale blue, ruffled, lacy number with a matching hat.
- Murphy Brown: Season 2, episode 27, "Goin' to the Chapel: Part 2" (1990). Murphy is the maid of honor in Corky's wedding, and her frilly purple dress is so wide Frank could barely fit her in his car, and he remarks that on the way home, he'll have to "strap her to the hood." And it has a matching hat.
- Herman's Head: Season 2, episode 3, "Herman's Heddy" (1992). Heddy is getting married, and she asks Louise to be a bridesmaid because she's the only woman Heddy knows, and her dress is so ugly it makes Louise cry through the whole wedding.
- The Nanny: Season 1, episode 5, "Here Comes the Brood" (1993). Fran is a bridesmaid in a relative's wedding, and her dress is a shiny fuchsia eyesore with layered ruffles and yellow flowers.
- Frasier: Season 3, episode 22, "Frasier Loves Roz" (1996). Frasier is going to be a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding, and she laments her acid green dress, explaining to Frasier that it's supposed to make the bride "glow" in comparison. Frasier remarks that she could donate it to a thrift store and "make some Irish drag queen very happy."
- Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place: Season 2, episode 8, "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place" (1998). Sharon is excited to be a bridesmaid at a friend's wedding…until she sees her dress. It's a pink monstrosity with big, puffy sleeves and a giant bow, but when she's embarrassed to dance with Johnny at the reception, he rips off the sleeves and the bow, transforming it into a sexy slip dress.
- Frasier: Season 7, episode 2, "Father of the Bride" (1999). Daphne asks Roz to be a bridesmaid in her wedding and insists that she wear a hideous green and yellow number with poofy sleeves and bows.
