1966: The Addams Family Series Finale
The final episode of The Addams Family, “Ophelia’s Career,” aired on this day in 1966, but as we all know, that was not nearly the last we heard of that creepy and kooky family, as the show spawned many reboots, spinoffs, movies, and even cartoons. To be honest, I’ve been suffering from Addams Family fatigue for years, but the original show still holds a place in my heart.
1979: All in the Family Original Series Finale
“Too Good Edith,” the final episode of All in the Family as everyone knew it, aired on this day in 1979. Later that year, the show was retooled as the less popular Archie Bunker’s Place. The network tried to pass it off as a continuation of the original series, but it felt more like a weak spinoff.
