Unhappy with conditions at their co-op, a character runs for condo board president and wins, but they turn out to be completely unprepared for the realities of the job.

- Frasier: Season 4, episode 11, "Three Days of the Condo" (1997). Frasier can't stand the current tyrannical condo board president, who rules the building with an iron fist, so when a mysterious figure asks him to run to take her place, he accepts and makes an impassioned speech at the next meeting that backfires spectacularly.
- Spin City: Season 1, episode 23, "The Mayor Who Came to Dinner" (1997). James helps Stuart write a speech to convince his condo association to install new laundry facilities, and they're so impressed that they elect him president, but Stuart can't handle the responsibility, so he asks James to write him a resignation speech.
- Seinfeld: Season 9, episode 15, "The Wizard" (1998). Kramer decides to retire and live at Del Boca Vista Phase 3 with Jerry's parents, and he instantly becomes Mr. Popularity. Meanwhile, Morty wants to run for condo board president, but he doesn't think he can get enough votes, so he convinces Kramer to run so he can establish a puppet regime. They attempt to win over the board with some counterfeit Wizard organizers, but they can't calculate tips correctly, so the board votes against Kramer.
- Frasier: Season 10, episode 3, "Proxy Prexy" (2002). Frasier wants to run for condo board president, but he doesn't think he could win because he's not a "regular guy," so he asks Martin to run as a figurehead so he can pull the strings from behind the scenes. At first their partnership works well, but when Frasier refuses to widen the parking spaces in the garage, Martin goes rogue.
- Peep Show: Season 8, episode 5, "Chairman Mark" (2012). Mark asks the building's freehold committee to fix a damp, mildew-covered wall in his bedroom, but they refuse, so when Mark hears that the chairman has stepped down, he runs to take his place and wins, then ends up spending the whole sinking fund to replace his wall.
