Fernwood 2 Night/America 2 Night

1977 - 1978

A fictional talk show hosted by Barth Gimble and Jerry Hubbard and set in the same universe as Mary Hartman, Marty Hartman and Forever Fernwood. Season 1 takes place in the fictional town of Fernwood, Ohio, and season 2 moves the show to Alto Coma, California, a town "near" Hollywood.

      • On Strike: Episode 29, "Barbershop Trio" (1977). The Mirth Makers go on strike, leaving Happy to provide the music alone. One member of a barbershop quartet strikes in sympathy with the musicians.
      • Raging Bull&@!: Episode 55, "Theological Correspondence Course" (1977). Frankie "Kid" Carbone, former professional boxer and current accordion player in the Mirth-Makers, shows off his skills with a performance that's part music, part fighting tips, including sparring with Happy while playing accordion.

      • Desperate Telethon: Episode 65, "Save Fernwood 2 Night Telethon" (1977). Barth holds a telethon to raise money to buy back the show's furniture, which he had to pawn to cover his legal fees.

      • Homemade Wedding Vows: Episode 34, "Rolletti-Sherwood Wedding" (1978). Tony Rolletti and his bride-to-be, Joanie Sherwood, compose their own wedding vows and put them to music.
      • Weird Wedding Venue: Episode 34, "Rolletti-Sherwood Wedding" (1978). Tony Rolletti’s wedding is held on the talk show set.
      • This is Your Life: Episode 16, "The Condensed Bible" (1978). Barth and Jerry put on a makeshift This is Your Life show for Jim Nabors.
      • Swinging Singles: Episode 43, "Surfin' to Heaven" (1978). Barth mentions that Jerry and Happy have been rooming together at a "swinging singles complex."
